Holly Sellers

Dr. Sellers is an internationally respected authority in avian diseases and diagnostics, whose career has spanned academia, government research, and industry leadership. She currently serves as Director of the U.S. Scientific Support and Investigation Unit at Ceva Animal Health and continues to contribute to the next generation of scientists as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Georgia.

Over more than two decades at the University of Georgia’s College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Sellers rose to Professor and served in key leadership roles, including Section head of Virology and Director of the Poultry Diagnostic and Research Center. Through her work, she has advanced the understanding, prevention, and control of poultry diseases, improving animal health and supporting the global food supply.

Over the years, Dr. Sellers has been honored by her peers with several awards, including election as a Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors and recipient of the University of Georgia Inventor of the Year award. Dr. Sellers has translated research into real-world solutions, including vaccine technologies licensed for industry use. Her contributions have been further recognized through honors such as the Phibro Research Award and the Bruce W. Calnek Applied Poultry Research Achievement Award. She values these acknowledgments as reflections of the many collaborative efforts and teams she has been fortunate to be part of.

Beyond her scientific accomplishments, Dr. Sellers has demonstrated leadership and service to her profession. Through her longstanding involvement with the American Association of Avian Pathologists—including serving on its Board of Directors and chairing several committees over the years—she has helped shaped the field, strengthened the community, and mentored many colleagues and future leaders.
