Outstanding Field Case and/or Diagnostic Report Award
Award Information

Introduction:

Contemporary problems in Avian Medicine require observation, investigation and scientific research to properly identify and report events in the field relevant to poultry production and protection from disease.  Field identification and reporting of original cases or diagnostic methodologies represent a front line of communications to the poultry industry.  This new award is established in the spirit of promoting and recognizing the most Outstanding Field Case or Diagnostic Reports during the annual American Association of Avian Pathologists meeting.

Application Criteria:

Eligible abstracts for consideration of the Outstanding Field Case Report Award will be determined by the AAAP program chair, co-chair (chair-elect) and secretary.  Eligible abstracts must come from individuals that have received a D.V.M. and/or Ph.D. degree who are involved in poultry practice and/or working in a poultry diagnostic institution.  This is a non-student award. The same person is allowed to win the award once in a two -year period.

Awards will be based on the following:

  1. Submission of an abstract to the AAAP annual meeting for oral presentation with an original field case study or diagnostic report.
  2. Clinical Relevance of Field/Diagnostic report. The report should deal with a contemporary problem in Avian Medicine.
  3. Originality of report.
  4. Content and clarity of presentation.
  5. Contributions, preventive and/or corrective solutions.

A 5 person ad hoc committee composed of 2-3 Awards Committee members and 3-4 ACPV members will judge 5-6 selected oral presentations (chosen by the AAAP program committee) based on the criteria above.  The winner(s) will be recognized during the awards luncheon and receive a plaque of distinction following the meeting.
