Interested in veterinary advocacy and public policy?

The AVMA Government Relations Student Externship Program offers veterinary students a unique opportunity to gain firsthand experience in federal advocacy, public policy, and the legislative process. Participants work alongside the AVMA Government Relations team in Washington, D.C., learning how veterinary medicine is represented at the federal level while developing valuable leadership and professional skills. The program also provides a $1,200 stipend for selected externs.

This webinar was held and recorded on April 21st, 2025 at 1pm EST. Please join the Respiratory Diseases Committee as we dive into “The Challenges and Promises of IBV Serotyping with qPCR and Sequencing.” Drs. Rodrigo Gallardo and Brian Jordan have vast research and diagnostic laboratory experience utilizing qPCR and first- and next-generation sequencing techniques, and Dr. TJ Gaydos has ample field experience in using this data to develop IB control programs.  We look forward to providing a better understanding of what the current IBV typing methods can tell us and where diagnostic services may be going from here. Q&A to follow.

Buy your AAAP Foundation Raffle tickets now! Raffle tickets are $10 each or 5 tickets for $40.  This year's raffle features a Maine Shore Clambake Gram for Two donated by BioChek and a 2nd Generation Apple Airpods Pro 2 donated by IDEXX. Winners will be announced on the AAAP website and also notified via email.  

All proceeds raised from the raffle will go towards funding the AAAP scholarships. These scholarships will encourage students to continue a career track in poultry health.
