Dear AAAP Colleagues,
I am honored to begin my term as the AAAP Foundation President and I look forward to continuing the Foundation’s vision of “building a legacy by supporting education, creating experiences and recognizing excellence in the poultry industry.” I would like to thank Sara Throne, our outgoing President, for all of her hard work and leadership during the past 3 years.
It was great to see so many AAAP members in Orlando and to recognize the scholarship, grant and award winners at our annual Awards Luncheon. We were able to award over $120,000 to undergraduate, veterinary and graduate students in 2026—a remarkable achievement! I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all of the AAAP member donors and corporate sponsors who made this possible.
Don’t forget that the 2027 deadline to apply for Foundation scholarships and externships is rapidly approaching on November 1st, with the Rimler, Rumsey, Schwartz and Poultry Graduate Student Travel Grant deadline following on December 15th. Please help us spread the word to interested students, vet schools and poultry science departments about these opportunities.
I am thrilled to announce that the Cal Anthony Externship Grant has been fully endowed! Thank you to all who donated to this grant; your support allowed the Foundation to raise the $40,000 needed in record time. We still have 2 funds that are not yet fully endowed, so stay tuned for more information on how you can help us reach our goal for these funds during our upcoming Giving Eggstravaganza, which will be held October 19th-23rd. We invite all AAAP members to make a donation, in any amount, to the Foundation during this week.
Finally, I would like to thank all of the Foundation’s committee members, chairs and Board of Directors for the time and energy they devote to the Foundation. Your contributions are essential to our continued success and are very much appreciated.
Sincerely,
Andrea Zedek
AAAP Foundation President
