The AVMA Government Relations Student Externship Program offers veterinary students a unique opportunity to gain firsthand experience in federal advocacy, public policy, and the legislative process. Participants work alongside the AVMA Government Relations team in Washington, D.C., learning how veterinary medicine is represented at the federal level while developing valuable leadership and professional skills. The program also provides a $1,200 stipend for selected externs.
