Avian Diseases Journal Special Issue Now Available

I am pleased to announce the publication of the 2024 Special Issue of Avian Diseases (Volume 68 Issue S1) that has the unofficial title “Current Infectious Bacterial Diseases of Poultry.” The entire Special Issue is being published Open Access. The 19 articles in this Special Issue are divided into 6 important bacterial disease sections: 1) Avibacterium paragallinarum, 2) Enterococcus spp., 3) Streptococcus gallolyticus, 4) Ornithobacterium rhinotracheale, 5) Campylobacter hepaticus, and 6) Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae.

AAAP members can view this issue by following the link below. The entire issue can be downloaded as a single pdf by clicking “Full Issue” on the Table of Contents page. Also, all past issues can be accessed by logging into your AAAP member profile and going to the Avian Diseases directory.

The cover of this Special Issue features Drs. Levinus (Jan) de Blieck and Pat Blackwell, both of whom played a key role in the discovery and research of Avibacterium paragallinarum. Both were inducted into The World Veterinary Poultry Association Hall of Honour in 2013.

In the future, AAAP will send announcements like this to inform our membership of newly published Avian Diseases articles (available online) and the full release of each published issue. We hope that this will be of use to our membership to stay up to date with the journal.

Thank You,
Randall Singer,
Avian Diseases Editor in Chief
