To our AAAP members:

We understand that the ongoing COVID-19 situation is an unprecedented challenge for everyone, both personally and professionally. Our hearts and thoughts go out to AAAP members, colleagues, and families and any infected with the virus.

The impact of COVID-19 is forcing organizations from all fields and industries to reconsider their all-important events in 2020, and ours is no exception. With the date for the planned AVMA Meeting in San Diego scheduled for July 31 to Aug. 4, rest assured that the AAAP board is evaluating the situation daily and having discussions with AVMA leadership about whether and how to proceed. As these talks progress, you should expect more communication about the 2020 meeting in the days ahead. Of course, our focus will be the health and safety of our members, speakers, and attendees, as well as our AAAP staff & hospitality staff.

As a service to our members, we have compiled a list of resources and guidelines to help navigate the COVID-19 crisis (see below).

RESOURCES

• AAAP members are encouraged to review a paper authored by Mark W. • The National Chicken Council has created a single webpage with various COVID-19 updates, including a daily issues tracker, daily media analysis, government resources, resources for employers and an FAQ related to COVID-19 and chicken.  The site ( https://www.chickencheck.in/faq/covid-19-resources/ ) will be updated daily and you are welcome to share it with your colleagues and check it frequently.  It can also be accessed on the NCC homepage.
• AVMA also has an informative website for COVID-19 info: https://www.avma.org/resources-tools/animal-health-and-welfare/covid-19.    
• The Centers for Disease Control also offers extensive information about the virus and a number of topics related to prevention, news and information and more.

• The AVMA has posted a list of tips for protecting and maintaining your wellbeing during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

• A CNBC report details how the FDA is temporarily easing restrictions on veterinarians to allow them to more easily use telemedicine to treat pets during the coronavirus pandemic.
